Founded in 1985 by Pam and Rocky Bloskas in Greeley, Colorado, Stone Creek Outfitters has earned its reputation as one of the most dependable names in the fly fishing industry. How do I care for fly fishing gear?

Proper care extends the life of your Stone Creek fly fishing gear significantly:

Fly rods: Dismantle your rod after each use, especially after fishing in saltwater or tropical conditions. Use lukewarm, soapy water and a soft sponge to clean the reel seat and guides. Dry thoroughly before storing in a rod tube.
Fly reels: Rinse with fresh water after saltwater use. Wipe down with a soft cloth. Avoid storing with the drag fully engaged, which can compress the drag components over time.
Fly lines: Clean your fly line periodically with a mild soap and fresh water to remove dirt and algae that reduce floatability. Allow to dry fully before winding back on the reel.
Flies: After fishing, rinse your flies in fresh water and let them air dry fully before returning them to your fly box to prevent rust and hook degradation.
Tools and accessories: Rinse metal tools like forceps and nippers with fresh water after each trip and dry thoroughly. Apply a light lubricant to hinged tools seasonally.
